Back in 2003, a Ffatri Fenter coordinator gave a presentation to the Cyfle students to promote the project. Owain saw an opportunity to design and produce creative mulitmedia by working for himself.
"I wasn't nervous, but finding support for it to happen was quite daunting. I realised that the process would take a while. But I was very confident with the idea itself."
Owain works as a computer trainer with Gwynedd Council and his biggest obstacle is lack of time. "One of my problems is that I don't have enough time on my hands to seriously promote the business to find more work. Although, I am currently working on various projects within the creative design industry and record labels."
Owain received extensive help from the Ffatri Fenter - help to write a business plan, help to translate technological terms from English to Welsh, marketing grant for the logo, business cards and to buy CD's to develop a portfolio, as well as interest-free loan and a training grant.
"This is exactly the kind of help that someone who wants to start their own business needs. In my opinion, it is important to establish yourself as a new professional business right from the beginning. The initial necessary requirements are to develop a brand, logo and business cards. Image is so important."
"I am much more confident although I do not wish to leave things as they are. I want the business to grow and I really want to find more work. I am happy with the way things are going but I want to make amendments."
